Higher weight gain in fattening pigs thanks to investing in sustainability
The success story of Stevens Pig Farm and Inno+
Several years ago, Frank Stevens, co-owner of Varkensbedrijf Stevens, Hilvarenbeek, came to the conclusion that his pigs and piglets are a source of heat; the heat they emit goes straight out into the open while it can easily be utilised for other purposes.
To achieve this, the pig farmer got in touch with Inno+; together they came to the conclusion that the Triple EEE system could offer a solution on heat wastage. After implementation, the first results were soon apparent. During a cold winter with temperatures of -10 degrees, the system provided an indoor temperature of +10 degrees without additional heating.
The now energy-neutral pig farm is achieving wonderful results thanks to preheating the incoming air: its pigs grew some 50 to 75 grams extra within two years.
Advanages if tge Triple EEE system
- Energy saving: Reusing heat results in lower energy costs and a smaller ecological footprint.
- Environmental friendliness: Reduction of emissions and treatment of waste create a cleaner environment.
- Improved air quality: Filtering outgoing air results in a healthier environment for animals and employees.
- Regulatory compliance: The system complies with strict emission and environmental regulations, preventing fines.
- Sustainable image: Implementation of the system promotes a sustainable image and strengthens customer relations.
Operation of the Triple EEE system
- Energy recovery: The system reuses heat from the barn for heating and other purposes, saving considerable energy.
- Emission reduction: Advanced filtration removes pollutants and odours from outgoing air, leading to reduced harmful emissions.
Stevens looks back with satisfaction on the investments he made in 2018 and 2019: ”Besides the extra growth of our pigs, we are saving enormously on energy costs. Partly thanks to the Triple EEE system, we even got money back from the energy company. I can therefore recommend a partnership with Inno+ for pig farmers.”
