Earning money with his air scrubber

Good climate is key

Last month we completed a project for a young agricultural entrepreneur who has several pig farm locations in the Netherlands, where he mainly focuses on keeping sows.

Last year he made the decision to build a new piglet shed for 6,000 piglets at one of his locations. He does this entirely under his own management. By making good purchases in terms of shed materials, he can realises his piglet sheds very cost effectively. When we talked about efficiency, this is always a high focus point for him.  One of his priorities is the climate in the house. This is crucial to keep animal welfare and production efficiency above standard and climate is the foundation for this. A good climate means living comfort for the piglets, which ultimately results in improved production.

Goed klimaat is de sleutel

Air preheating (Triple-EEE)

This farmer opted for Inno+ Triple-EEE to support this belief. The system can pre-heat the incoming air from -10 to +10 degrees, which eliminates the draught and wind influences in the house during cold periods. In this way, the stall climate can be optimised to provide a comfortable environment for the piglets. Although this is advantageous for the living environment and the production of the piglets, Triple-EEE with a proven COP of 1 to 50 is also very energy-efficient. This means it uses 1 kW of electricity, to recover 50 kW of thermal energy. The air scrubber located behind the barn makes all this possible. As it collects all the energy generated by the piglets, which is then uses to heat the house. In this way, the air washer is no longer a cost item, but a cost saver. When he adds it all up, he earns the air scrubber and the Triple-EEE back within a realistic time.

Wellen - Versleijen

Payback time in 2 years

Of course, an investment like this comes with a profitable payback period. At the time of purchase in June 2021, the payback time on gas savings alone was 4-5 years, and including production efficiencies, it drops to 2 years. Now, gas prices have risen higher, this means payback time will be even more favourable.

  • The concept for 6.000 piglets saves an estimated €45,000 per year.
  • If we calculate this over 20 years, this smart entrepreneur has earned € 810,000, including deduction of the investment.

Partnership with Versleijen

We have been partners with Versleijen for several years and have an excellent cooperation with them. We mainly focus on heat recovery concepts, realising about 10-15 projects per year. Versleijens approach to selling concepts works very well with our philosophy, always look how we can bring extra value to the customer. This makes them a fantastic partner.
